Starting the journey to change
So…
Everyone has experienced something stressful, traumatic, upsetting, or triggering in the past year. If you say you haven’t, I encourage you to dig deeper.
This year has put us all through a storm we never anticipated occurring. We could not have predicted what life would change into.
Whether you have had long-term effects of Pandemic stress, or are suffering from a specific incident of trauma, I want to review two very important steps we need to take.
We need to feel it.
We need to start moving in a different direction.
Please take it from me, sitting with your emotional trauma is important. Sometimes it might feel suffocating. Sometimes it might feel good. Sometimes you may flat out feel stuck. I understand that. And it is completely valid. We definitely need time to feel and process.
Once you see a smidge of sunshine, we need to try that out, too.
“But, what is the sunshine? Where can I find it?”
I am going to encourage a two-parter here:
I need you to share your feelings out loud with a support, and I need you to do something to take care of yourself…FOR YOU!
It’s going to feel hard to get started.
The sooner you share (see past blog posts to work on how to ask for support), the sooner you’ll feel less isolated, alone, and shameful.
The sooner you do something to take care of YOU, the sooner you’ll start to feel human again.
Reach out, let’s start the step towards proactivity today.
